T
oday on the blog, I talk to Simrit Atma Kaur, a spiritual teacher and metaphysical healer, who specialises in helping people champion their trauma and live a happy, meaningful life through the power of spiritual healing.
Simrit discusses how to integrate spiritual healing into your daily practice and how to tackle trauma which is blocking you from beginning or moving forward in your business, as well as how to make your entrepreneurial journey a little easier.
Healing with Simrit is the name of my private practice where I help creative, capable women champion their trauma and get into a life in line with their values. I grew up in an abusive family and spent my entire life trying to figure out what was happening, and how I could get it to stop.
I was in therapy since elementary school and by the time I was in my late 20s, I remained stuck in a loop repeating the same patterns. Therapy helped me in some capacity, but nothing created the transformation I was seeking.
When I discovered the metaphysical tools I now share with my clients, my life radically changed. Problems I had been struggling with my entire life dissolved within months, weeks, and hours. I left a toxic career, surrounded myself with better people, left my family, began taking on work I loved and continued to put my own health and wellbeing first.
Trauma can feel like such an overwhelming, individual struggle, but there are tools out there that can begin to transform things immediately and permanently. You really do not need to suffer if you don’t want to.
I have finally embraced showing up every day in blind faith. Part of my entrepreneurial journey has been living in Mexico so I have very low overheads and while Mexico is wonderful and easy in many ways, it has taught me how to “surf through life”. I never know what each day holds.
I might think I’m going to the store and my bike tire pops and I’m spending the rest of the afternoon at the repair garage. I could think that I’m showing up to ashtanga every day and instead I have parasites and am bedridden – true story!
My experience in Mexico has taught me that neither time nor energy can be controlled. And it’s the same way in my business. I’ve realized I can only do what I can and everything else is out of my hands. I was never okay with the unknown, I always had to have a strategy and know exactly what I was going to create. The fact that I can now release this control, and in the midst of craziness know I’m fine and that things are working out exactly and divinely without me having any idea how is a huge change!
Start meditating every day and come see me. I’m serious. You can spend 30+ years blocked or going around in circles even if you’re getting help. It’s not worth it. You can work with me from six weeks to six months and completely heal and change. And if not me, seek out someone like me, try to call in the tools energetically. If you want to change, you can. Call your healing in.
The most important tool is daily, silent meditation, hands down. Even before grounding, which is an immediate second. The reason being is that when you aren’t consistently unloading your subconscious, there is no way you can be conscious. You can’t think clearly. Being able to access more space in your own mind will also help you discern what practices/medicines are worth your time and what isn’t.
Just because something says it’s healing doesn’t mean it’s safe or right for you. Your power play is being able to manage your own mental space. Start with two minutes a day every day for 40 days. Sit and do not expect there to be silence! Just keep going.
The importance of allowing myself to take ridiculous, messy action. I have very high standards and really tried to uphold them in everything I created. At this point, I’m almost a year into taking clients and I have let go of all aspects of perfectionism.
I label it all as being in “Year One” and let myself show up exactly as I am. I do videos without makeup and hair, I publish things that are not professional and I absolutely do not care. My only goal is to keep the energy moving!
Don’t. No, I’m kidding! It’s an amazing time to be an entrepreneur. Even easier than it was pre-pandemic! My very first piece of advice would be to make sure you are doing something that you honestly, truly love. A business is SO much work. If you don’t absolutely love what you’re doing, it will be torture and you’ll burn out.
I actually gave up a business I really liked because I knew I didn’t love it and I couldn’t imagine having it be my life. Healing is my number one passion and every second I work on it, I’m grateful because I’m living my greatest dream come true.
It’s hard to say. I have one client who spent over a decade working for her narcissist mother and living her life as a trauma response. Now she’s taking over the business, tuning into her spirituality and creativity daily and, she’s happier, healthily and powerfully conquering challenges.
Another client went from being dissociated and suicidal, in total misery, to feeling calm and on a huge journey of self-love. She’s working three really cool jobs right now, building up her finances, raising her child, enjoying her life and preparing for a move to Europe (I think!). Seeing someone go from tortured and suicidal to thriving in four months is obviously a huge win.
My entire business is a spiritual act. It’s what I was incarnated on this planet to do. The biggest way this has played out is that I bring a huge level of integrity and love to the space. I love my clients. I love this work. I make sure I deliver. I never falsely advertise, I’m never trying to get someone’s money for my own greed. I care and I put in the work. Everyone I work with always says that they really feel connected with me even if they don’t work with me long term. They are responding to my devotion!
Right now, I run long-term 1:1s, shorter group programs and single sessions. The long term container is amazing because you get a powerful, ever-present ally. I have boundaries, but I love what I do, I know how trauma is and I’m dedicated to my client’s success. So if someone starts having a trigger at 11 pm, they text me and I either handle it through text or we do a call.
We really go on a journey together that doesn’t end until my clients have fully transcended. Groups are fun because of the group energy and diving into different topics.
Single sessions provide radical change that helps people take the healing and use it independently. I just had a single session with someone who was extremely depressed, transformed in session, legitimately started living her life in a completely different way, ended up applying for a job in Australia (from Asia) and moved there to live her best life. She is smiling every day. That’s how quickly this work can work.
